Negative Mindsets and their Impact on Performance

When breakdowns in performance persist, the following mindsets are usually present:

  • Lack of purpose: “We don’t know what we are doing.” or “Why are we doing this?”
  • Lack of vision: “We have no sense of where we are going, what the future looks like, and no leader to be respected and trusted to get us there. We have no collective vision.”
  • Lack of trust: “I’m not trusted and so I don’t trust others. I will look out for myself first, and continue to do things my way.”
  • Lack of engagement: “What I do is not considered important. Nor is it appreciated. No one cares about what I have to say. It is not healthy to speak up.”
